Faversham Elizabethans - Association of Former Pupils and Staff

The Faversham Elizabethans is an association of all former students and staff of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School and its predecessors – The Faversham Grammar School for Boys and The William Gibbs School for Girls.

We have an Annual Lunch in October and in 2021 this was held in the school dining hall with delicious food cooked by the school catering teaming from Cucina. Some of our members had an opportunity to view the theatre and test the seating whilst they were at the school.

Under a gazebo at the school's Summer Fete we host a display highlighting aspects of the school's history. In 2022, we hope to display information about the William Gibbs School for Girls and would therefore welcome any old photos, memories or uniform you may have. Both events give former pupils a chance to meet up with others and share their memories.

One of the associations aims is to support the school financially. At the school fete on Saturday 29th June 2019 the Association was pleased to present a cheque for £1000 to Headteacher, David Anderson, towards the project to update the Sports Hall. The Association has made a contribution towards the seating for the Theatre which was
officially opened on November 10th 2021 and this is recognised on the benefactors board in the foyer.

Members are very welcome to attend badminton sessions on Thursday evenings in the Sports Hall.

The Faversham Elizabethans support the school with prizes at Senior Prizegiving: including the Bruce Martin House Prize; in memory of Bruce, who was the Elizabethans' Secretary for more than 30 years and devoted many hours assisting with the running of the Association and helping the school. He was a pupil at The Faversham Grammar School from 1941-1947. His wife, son, daughter and two grandsons are all former pupils of the school; and the link continues with his daughter Yvonne Wills (nee Martin), who is the Secretary of the Faversham Elizabethans.
