In January 2019, Kent County Council’s Commissioning Plan detailed an ambition to build a new Satellite Grammar School in the Canterbury and Coastal district to meet the anticipated rise in student numbers in Whitstable and Herne Bay. The proposal is to build a five form entry selective school, funded by the Selective School Expansion Fund (SSEF), to be opened in 2022.

The Governors and Leadership Group at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School are keen to pursue the possibility of being the lead school for this Satellite project and are therefore consulting widely with the local community and other interested parties.
